Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers about the color palette extractor.
How does the color extractor work?
Upload any image and the tool places draggable sampling points on it. Each point reads the exact pixel color at its position. Move them around until you've captured the colors you want, then copy the values or download the whole palette as an SVG swatch card.
What image formats are supported?
PNG, JPG, WEBP, and most other common image formats work. Just drag the file in or click to upload. Everything runs locally in your browser — the image never leaves your device.
How many colors can I extract?
Up to ten at a time. You can add or remove sampling points as needed. That's usually more than enough for a brand palette, UI theme, or illustration color scheme.
What's the SVG download for?
It gives you a neat swatch card with each color's HEX code labeled underneath. Designers drop it into mood boards, brand guideline docs, or presentations. Since it's SVG, it scales cleanly to any size.
Is my image processed on a server?
No. The entire extraction happens in your browser using the Canvas API. Your image is never uploaded, so there are no privacy concerns — even with confidential or unreleased artwork.
