What is a hang tab box?
A hang tab box is a tuck-end carton with an extra header panel rising above the back of the box. The header carries a euro slot (or hole) so the finished box can hang on a retail peg hook, slatwall or pegboard. It is cut and creased from a single flat sheet, folded into a tube, glued along one seam, and closed with tuck flaps — while the header stays flat with the back panel and stands up above the box.
What is a euro slot?
A euro slot (also called a euro hole or "sombrero" slot) is the standard European retail hanging cutout — a wide, shallow slot with a rounded hole dipping below its center, so it looks like a hat. The peg sits in the rounded part while the wide slot lets the packaging hang flat. This tool also offers a plain round hole and a simple slot. A euro slot is typically about 32 mm (1.25 in) wide with a 6–7 mm hole, placed roughly 10 mm from the header top.
What are the glue tab, dust flaps and header?
The glue tab is the narrow flap on one edge that bonds the box into a tube. The dust flaps are the small side flaps that fold in first to seal the ends. The tuck flaps fold over the top and bottom openings and tuck inside to hold the box closed. The header is the tall panel above the back of the box that carries the euro slot for hanging — it is not folded, so its cut line is continuous with the back panel.
What box size should I use?
Set W × H × D slightly larger than your product so it slides in easily, then choose a header height tall enough for the hole plus a safe margin above it (about 1.25 in / 32 mm is typical). The header should be at least as wide as the euro slot. Start from a preset and adjust to your product and peg-hook spacing.
Why do the cut and crease lines have different colors?
Red solid lines are cuts (the knife trims the material) and green dashed lines are creases (the material is scored so it folds cleanly). Keeping them on separate, named layers means your printer or die-maker can map each to the correct tool. The optional blue dashed line marks the bleed.
Will it print and cut at the correct real-world size?
Yes. The SVG is exported with real physical dimensions (inches or millimeters) and a matching coordinate system, so it opens at 1:1 scale in Illustrator, Inkscape, Affinity, Silhouette Studio, Cricut Design Space and print RIPs. Place your artwork on its own layer and align it to the dieline.
