Cut Crease Bleed Safe

The downloaded SVG contains separate named layers: cuts (red), creases (green), plus optional bleed, safe and dimensions layers. The file is created at true physical size so it prints and cuts at 1:1 scale.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about the dieline generator.

What is a dieline?
A dieline is a flat template that tells a printer or cutting machine exactly where to cut and fold a printed piece. Red cut lines mark the trim edges and green crease (fold/score) lines mark where the material bends. It is the blueprint behind every greeting card, box, and package.
What do the colored lines mean?
Red solid lines are cuts (the trim/knife line). Green dashed lines are creases (fold or score lines). The optional blue dashed line is the bleed (where your artwork should extend past the trim), and the gray dashed line is the safe margin (keep text and logos inside it). Each lives on its own named layer inside the SVG.
Why is bleed important?
Printers cut through stacks of paper and the blade can drift by a fraction of a millimeter. Extending your background color or image into the bleed area (typically 0.125 in / 3 mm) guarantees there are no thin white slivers on the finished edge. Keep important content inside the safe margin for the same reason.
What is the difference between finished size and flat size?
The finished (folded) size is the card as your customer holds it — for example 5 × 7 in. The flat size is the sheet before folding. A side-folded 5 × 7 card is printed on a flat 10 × 7 sheet with a crease down the middle; a top-folded (tent) card is printed on a 5 × 14 sheet. The tool calculates the flat size for you.
Will the SVG print at the correct real-world size?
Yes. The SVG is exported with real physical dimensions (inches or millimeters) and a matching coordinate system, so it opens at 1:1 scale in Illustrator, Inkscape, Affinity, Silhouette Studio, Cricut Design Space, and print RIPs. Import your artwork onto its own layer and align it to the dieline.
Is the dieline generator free?
Completely free, no sign-up required. Generate unlimited dielines for personal or commercial projects. More categories — boxes, envelopes, labels and hang tags — are on the way.
